Community Involvement

Their mission is to help families escape poverty and homelessness through design; one household at a time. Dwell with Dignity's goals are to bring good design to those less fortunate, inspiring them to maintain a standard of living they can be proud of and thrive in. They partner with the interior design industry, like SBC Decor, to provide home furnishings to families who have managed to obtain permanent housing, but do not have the funds to purchase the many items needed to make their new residence a home, including all furniture, art, bedding, kitchen supplies, food in the pantry and their first night’s meal.

They feel that if we can change a person’s environment, we can change a person’s outlook on life.

Dwell with Dignity serves families with children formerly at or below the federal poverty line. The families are nominated to them by existing social service organizations that have programs in place to help struggling families attain self-sufficiency. Agencies must have accountability-based programs that address housing, education, career, finance, life skills and children’s needs. Organizations that are approved by our board may nominate families in need.

While the families are equipped with everything they need to work towards self-sufficiency, they often do not have the resources it takes to make their new space a home. With Dwell with Dignity's help, a huge financial burden is taken off of our families. They can now focus on their job, their children and their future.

Attend an event: Each year, Dwell with Dignity hosts Thrift Studio, a fundraising event and pop-up shop designed to help provide financial viability for chapters both in Dallas at Atlanta.
